This session is perfect for the young musician who has their sights set on being in Band! A member of the woodwind family, the Recorder utilizes many of the same skills and patterns found on the flute, saxophone, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon. Building on prior knowledge from your child’s school music program, students will begin their path of comprehensive musicianship by learning to perform, improvise, compose, and ornament music at developmentally appropriate levels.
Materials Needed: Recorder kit: Recorder, Music Book and mute

Alaina earned her BME at the University of Arkansas and is a graduate student at Wichita State University. She is pursuing a master’s degree in Music Education and studying flute with Dr. Carmen Lemoine. In addition, she is currently the band director for a local private school in Wichita, KS for grades 4-10. In October of 2018, Alaina won a sub-list position with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. While in Arkansas, she taught flute sectionals in schools and was selected as an intern for the National Flute Association Convention. She was a winner of the University of Arkansas’ Concerto Competition and performed with the University Orchestra in 2018. Alaina has been teaching at Senseney since 2019.
