Current students enrolled in Music Theater Dance II may continue and new students are invited to join us! The Music Theater Two class is an extension of Musical Theater One for ages 10-14. This class also encompasses Broadway style dance in both tap and jazz, vocal preparation and acting techniques at a more challenging level. Students will study monologue, scene work and higher level improvisational scenarios than Musical Theater One. Vocal scales are practiced and students will work on singing roles from various Broadway shows. Dance warm-ups, across the floor technique, and more advanced choreography will be studied in this class. Students will be prepped to audition for leading roles in upcoming showcases. All pieces for the showcases will contain singing, dancing and character work. They will use these skills and experiences to prepare themselves to audition for theaters in the community and to create confidence and poise when pursuing roles in a theatrical production. Please bring your own black tap shoes.

Jennifer studied ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern and hip-hop genres at Body Language Dance Studio, one of the top competitive studios in New York, and was a member of Stony Brook University’s dance company throughout her college career where she worked with choreographers from NYU, Julliard, Joffrey Ballet, Alvin Ailey and Yale. After graduation, she returned to Body Language Dance Studio as their Junior Dance Company instructor and danced professionally with groups throughout New York City and Long Island. Jennifer continued her dance career after moving to Nashville and became the St. Cecilia Academy Dance Program director, Musical Theatre choreographer, and dance instructor. When Jennifer moved to Wichita she taught tap, jazz and ballet at Northwest Dance Academy and created their very first musical theatre dance program. She currently teaches English at the Independent School and is thrilled to continue teaching musical theatre dance here at The Wichita Center for Performing Arts!
