This class will explore different styles of popular music of our time (1950’s through current) to learn about song structure and lyrical content. We will also work as a group to write our own music, with the goal of performing our own music.
Required: basic understanding of instrument:
Guitar: scales or chord shapes
Piano: scales, chords, inversions
Bass: scalesDrums: basic rhythmic patterns in simple meter
Singers welcome! May be expected to create melody, harmony, and original lyrics.
Other instruments welcome! Must have basic scales
Minimum class size: 4
Instructor: Lindsay Unruh Lindsay Unruh has been playing piano since elementary school. After studying classical and jazz and learning to play with various groups, she began to write and perform her own music. Lindsay is currently returning to Wichita State University to complete her degree in Music Education – Keyboard Studies.
